Comparison. It makes you second-guess yourself. It makes others seem “so much better” or “not as good” as you—it puts everyone on their own levels.

Comparison makes you want what you don’t have. It makes you wish you are like everyone else.

Comparison is the thief of joy. It steals contentment. It steals uniqueness.

Comparison is a method the devil uses to break confidence, to make you think you aren’t good enough or your situation is worse than another. It gives you false superiority. It makes you focus on lack and not what you have. It steals thanksgiving.

Being on a team with all girls for the last 8 months, it’s apparent how deadly comparison is.

God created all of us uniquely. Although many of us have the same characteristics, we show it differently.

If you hold up a baby, Niki and I jump for joy—Niki on the outside and me on the inside. I’ve heard that she likes kids more than I do—simply because she reacts more outwardly. But babies fill me soooo much and therefore always excite me!

It’s been a challenge to voice my needs and desires because of this. I’m trying to find the balance between being myself and exerting myself more to get what I need-especially when others want or need the same thing.

With all the uniqueness in each of us—especially in the things that we have in common (like expressing joy differently)—we more accurately portray our Creator. The more people you put together, the more they resemble our Savior because there are more of His traits displayed.

Your uniqueness is NEEDED to bring an aspect of Christ that others dont have. So next time you compare yourself to someone else, remember that you are unique for a reason!

You are created to display the Lord’s splendor (Isaiah 61:3)
