Because you gave, I’ve completed another month of the World Race! Guatemala has been an adventure! Being surrounded by volcanoes (some dormant and some active) was a treat, especially at night in Antigua when the lava spewed out the top!! I’ve been in two earthquakes–one I slept through! Don’t worry–no damage and no injury!
Because you gave, I’ve spent two weeks assisting in a middle school. Emma, Daniel and I painted about half the school; the other days were spent following the teachers around and interacting with the students. We became friends with David, a U.S. citizen who currently lives down here. He was our translator, but we had the opportunity to minister to him inside and outside of school.
Because you gave, God’s love was poured out on special needs children in an orphanage through us! Emma and I spent a few days spraying the facility for cockroaches; we spent a few days sewing and hemming clothes. Each day, we assisted the children during feeding time, then played with them in the grass (playing soccer, crawling around, etc) or on the swings. They were so joyful that we spent time with them. What a blessing they have been to Daniel, Emma and I–so much that it was hard to say goodbye yesterday! But they are in an amazing facility, run by Mama Maurine who has a heart of gold! Because you gave, the medical people on our squad (nurses and I) had the opportunity to open a day-long clinic. We saw, treated and wrote prescriptions for the people in the community–yes, we did it without a doctor! Crazy, right?! It was an amazing opportunity. I appreciated using my medical skills and knowledge, and it made me miss my job back home!!
Because you gave, many people received hugs and prayers in the city park. A few of us took bubbles and music to the Square; we blew bubbles with the kids and offered free hugs and prayers to those who wanted them! Many people came and participated!!
Because you gave, God healed a little boy with a broken leg! After the healing, him and I sat and colored until his mom arrived! (For the complete story, read my blog “Prayer walk around the city” http://jessicadabich.theworldrace.org/post/prayer-walk-around-the-city)
Because you gave, I toured a coffee plantation and rode horseback to the top of a volcano! This was a difficult month health-wise, so adventure days were usually spent within the house or within Chimaltenango, but I was grateful for the two adventures that I had!
Because you gave, God’s hand has blessed Guatemala through my squad and I. We have grown closer as a family throughout this “all squad” month, and we have grown closer with the Lord.
At the end of the week, we leave Guatemala to start Month 3 in Honduras. Not sure what the month will look like yet, but I’m excited to see what the Lord does through my team and I.
Please pray for health. I’ve had stomach issues all month–but I know the Lord is faithful and healing is part of Salvation! Thankfully, most of my squad had very little issues.
And guess what?! I’m 86% funded!! God is soooo good!! I need just a few more dollars–any donation will help continue this journey for me and help bring God’s love to those around the world!!
Thank you for your continued support and prayers!!
