Meet Andrea: She is a beautiful teenager who lives at the orphanage. She is a feisty girl, and sometimes aggressive. She loves food and will fight all the other kids for their meals. She often needs to be held from behind to calm her down. At times, she will crawl onto your lap, wanting to be held. She needs constant direction. A smile on her face is a rare finding, unfortunately.
Meet Candy: She is a beautiful teenager who lives in the orphanage as well. Her smile is contagious. She often needs assistance walking; she loves to be held from behind—she wants your arms around her belly as she walks. If you sit down, prepare to be sat on! She is 100 lbs of pure love and joy!
Today was a special day for these two! Emma usually works with Andrea; however, Emma finds it uncomfortable to be sat on, at least the way Andrea does so. After lunch, Andrea came to me. I sat on the edge of the trampoline, and Andrea crawled upon my lap and lied back into my arms. After some time, she crawled onto the trampoline and laid across my lap. The whole time, Andrea remained calm. I patted her back and massaged it as I sang songs of deliverance over her. I spoke the words God put on my heart—words of acceptance by Him; words of freedom and protection; words of love and abounding joy! I prayed over her and sang with her for approx. 30 minutes. For those 30 minutes, Andrea was surrounded by the Love of God!
In the meantime, Candy came up to us—I’m pretty sure she wanted some lap time. I held her hand since my lap was already occupied. She sat down in a chair next to me—for the 25 minutes, she remained in the chair and sat calmly, holding my hand. I sang songs of deliverance over her. I spoke the words God put on my heart, and I watched the abundance of joy radiating from her smile. For 30 minutes, these girls sat in the arms of love, and they looked at peace!!
Andrea soon got up; Candy then crawled out of the chair, grabbed my arms and wrapped them around her belly as I stood behind her; she led me to the grass, where Daniel was leading a soccer game with some of the children. Candy allowed me to sit on the sidewalk, then she plopped down upon my legs. She put toys in my hands and used my hands to play with the toys. I continued to sing and pray over her, as I enjoyed the site of all the other children relaxing in the sun or playing games. Candy eventually moved from my lap and sat in the grass, playing with her green frog toy. Before I knew it, Andrea was in front of me—she sat on my lap, threw her arms around my neck and rested her head onto my shoulder. She sat in my arms for 20 minutes! She was in a place of comfort. In this place of comfort, there was no need for her to be aggressive or mischievous. She was content being in the arms of love!
While I loved on them, they loved on me just as much! These are God’s precious children, and they have found a special place in my heart! What a blessing they are to this world!
