We’ve been doing ministry here in Kathmandu for about 4 days and it has been awesome!  I love Nepal because you can see the Himalayas from anywhere and I have been hearing the Lord’s vioce so clearly here.

Ministry looks pretty different day to day.  Wednesdays are my favorite ministry day.  On Wednesdays, we do an activity called treasure hunting.  In the morning, we spend an hour with the Lord, then go downstairs and sit amoung a bunch of art supplies.  Then, we ask the Lord for a vision.  After dwelling and listening for a while, we draw the vision on a card, then we got out and find it In the ciity.  Some people get visions of buildings,  people, or anything.

Yesterday, I got a vision of a ornate gold and royal blue sari.  I drew it out and wrote Psalm 33:18-22 around the sari.  We went out into the city and asked the Lord which way to go.  The streets of Nepal are basically a really crowded maze, so asking the Lord which way to go is a VERY REAL question.  As we started, I saw the same sari that I drew, but it was folded up in a shop and I really felt that someone would be wearing it.  So we kept looking.

There was a woman walking through the streets in a gold and blue Punjabi, which is like a sari, but not exactly.  I saw her, and decided she wasn’t the one I was looking for.  We kept looking through the city for the images on our cards and founnd a few other ones. Then, the woman in the blue Punjabi kept walking by us!  My Squad Mentor, Erika, encouraged me to pray and ask the Lord if my card was meant for her, even though she wasn’t wearing exactly what I though she would be wearing.  As we prayed, I felt really peaceful about it, so I walked into a bookstore behind her.

I approached her and gave her the card and then explained the verse to her, with the help of a translator.  I told her about how Jesus told me to come and talk to her, and that He sees her and knows her, and that He wants to be in close relationship with her.  I explained a little more to her, and then we prayed for her.  Her name was Nilam, and JESUS IS GOING TO FIND HER!!!  It was awesome.  She took the card and then disappeared into the crowd.

Later, as we werelooking for the images on other people’s cards, I saw a woman in the street wearing EXACLTY the sari that I drew.  I was thinking, Oh man, maybe I gave my card tot he wrong person!  My teammate India, encouraged me to go talk with the sari lady and pray for her, even without a card.  So, India, Erika, and I chased this woman down in the streets of Kathmandu.  This is totally normal when you are treasure hunting!  I got up to and she didn’t want to talk about Jesus at all!  I asked if I could pray for her and she said no.  So, I did anyways while she was walking away.

I think the Lord prepared Nilam’s heart to receive His message that day.  And even though she wasn’t exaclty the woman I thought, the Holy Spirit drew us together and gave her an open heart.  Please pray that she would continue to be aware of how Jesus is pursuing her!  I can’t wait for more treasure hunt days 🙂
