 Welcome to Launch! Y Squad Edition!
(AKA Travel day #1)
–Though by the time you read this blog I will actually be in Kenya-
The Race has definitely started! Just imagine trying to get a large Squad of people (minus team leaders, finance people, and logistics leaders who arrived early) from Dulles Airport to VTS. Simple enough, right? Now include the game show host line, “you know that sounded too easy, so we decided to throw in the twist…â€� Ohh … and what was the twist you may ask? Oh, I’m glad you asked, because see, what had happened was … we had to use city public transportation to get from point A to point B. So let me just give you a rundown of what this looked like …

Somehow we managed to all squeeze on one bus, plus all the other innocent bystanders to the mayhem that is a bunch of awkwardly maneuvering newbie World racers with way too much stuff and way too many danglers.
It was seriously like musical luggage towards the end … put your day pack at someone’s feet, give your big pack to someone who is now surrounded by 3 large packs in his 1 small seat, then take your teammate’s day pack in your lap … and really, thigh master, who needs you? Just try holding a large day pack in your lap … on a moving bus … while trying not to knee the guy beside you who is having to stand for the 45ish minute commute. But we did learn a valuable lesson, fill the bus seats from the back to the front.
