Hi everyone!

So sorry that it has been so long since I’ve written a blog. Lots has happened here on the race. So I’ll begin with one of my favorite places in the world……

ZAMBIA, AFRICA

This is a land filled with beautiful people, gorgeous sunsets and rises, and melodious music always heard in the whispers of the wind. Everything that is here is simple and very blessed. Jesus is a friend to most people here and they are not afraid to talk about how good God is. I love this. There is just a natural joy found in everyone here. A song is not far from every ones lips.

Right now, I am living in a Catholic Women’s Center here in Livingstone, Zambia. It is a compound with a couple buildings and lots of mango trees to set up our hammocks. This is where I sleep every night. I love it. Each and every morning I wake up to the rooster crowing and I turn over and see the sun rising over the corn. The skies are breathtaking in the mornings. My team and I are living with two other teams here and we are all doing ministry with our host Auldridge. Each of us go to a different school in the morning time and teach little children English and math and many other subjects. After this we all come home and cook our lunches and take really long naps. Then in the afternoon we come together and play soccer with the village children. Let’s just say I could probably play for the US soccer team when I get back;) lol

I love playing with these kids. Everyday The Lord shows me more and more about his heart and the love He has for all of his children. His grace is so sufficient.

Life has been pretty blessed here on the race and I know that your prayers have been lifting me up everyday. God blows my mind everyday with His truth. Currently I have really been thinking about my future and what that would look like for me studying nursing. There is a great need for medical attention in the people here. Almost everyday we are helping the little kids wash their boo-boos or kiss an ouchie on their hand. This may seem simple but I think God has really given me a zeal for medicine and it’s impact on the world. I ultimately know that God is The Healer and that medicine would be nothing without Him, but I am grateful to study it in the years ahead.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. I am very excited to finish my race strong here in Zambia. I have about two months left and then I Will be headed back to the States. I hope that all is well with you and that God has been showing you great and mighty things in this season. I can’t wait to see all of you soon.

With much love,

Jessica
