So Jesus is there…
By the bed side in the hospital room. Monitors beeping and breath sounds very faint. The occasional weeping of the sister right by her side. Nothing else in the whole world could ever hurt as much as this.
“God is she going to make it?”
I won’t let go
So Jesus is there…
Looking into the mirror, she starts to believe that what the other girls said about her is true.
“I can’t fit into those jeans like they do.” “I wish my face was not so round.” “I am not pretty enough.” “Maybe that’s why daddy doesn’t acknowledge me when he’s around.” “I will never be good enough.”
My beloved, you are royalty. I have called you by name. You are mine.
So Jesus is there…
Yet another night where she will be bruised and beaten for the pleasure of men. Taken as a child, her scars have accumulated and she wonders if she is even worth anything anymore.
“Why should I continue to live? I am nothing.”
I see you.
So Jesus is there…
Inside the apartment where everyone left him. All that is left is one bottle of whiskey and a note from his wife saying she is giving up on him.
“When will it ever end? I can’t do this anymore.”
Be still, my son, and know that I am God.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Heb. 12:1
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
It is so easy to think we are alone in the struggles of this life. I mean, that’s what our world tells us anyway isn’t it?
“You are a powerful individual and you don’t need anyone to help you.”
But the reality is that even in the darkest moments God is still holding on. For we are never too far from his grasp. He wants us to let go, because our hands are turning white from holding on so tightly of the things that we think we can control.
I hear the Savior say,
Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all (Kristian Stanfill~Jesus Paid It All)
When we feel like there is nothing left in us and that if we take one more step we will collapse, this is when we hear Jesus say “Child of weakness, watch and pray, find in Me thine all in all.”
He won’t let go. Period!
So Jesus is there. He finds us in our weakness and lifts us up on wings of eagles. Never once has he ever left us.
I pray that you will hold on to this truth. Let it invade every crevice of your heart.
Father thank you for what you taught me today. I seek you on behalf of Lindsey who is fighting cancer right now. Please heal her body so that she may be free from this sickness. I believe in your power and thank you for the opportunity I get to pray to you. May I lift up your name all the days of my life, Jesus. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander. In your precious name I pray, Amen.
