As a child, many of us have dreampt of doing something amazing. Little boys dream of becoming superhero's with magical powers so they can save the world. Little girls dream of becoming a princess who rules with exquisite taste. Then through one experience or another, those dreams are squashed. Reality sets in and the child within us now feeling pressured to grow up. It may be at age 5, when that child starts school and realizes that they are struggling to make a friend. it may be at 10 when they are trapped in the middle of divorcing parents. It may be at 15 when a young teen finds out they are going to be a parent. It may be at 16 when they are handed keys and told to be responsible. It may be at 20 when drowning in student loans wondering if the money invested into an education will ever pay off. At either rate, there is almost always something that tries to push us in to adulthood. With that push often comes a lost dream…a lost hope. Not always but it is definantly a possibilty. We have all been there. We have all had dreams that have, at some point seemed to slip out of reach.

For me, that push came at a young age. I would say around 8-9. I had made some very poor choices even at a young age that stole my innocence. From there, I felt as if a price had to be paid which then started me down the path that I now look upon and go "wow…".  At such a young age, I began giving up my hopes and dreams. I started surrendering to the lost hope. I began to doubt that the life I had once dreamed of would ever come to pass. Through a series of events, I found myself questioning why life was even important and necessary.

So, why do we carry these dreams if we are going to simply turn around years down the road and loose them? Why do we dare to dream if there is no chance of seeing them come to pass? We then spend years trying to find something in life that is satisfying, something that gives us the feeling of accomplishment and success.

Can any of this really happen if our mind remains striving for perfection? Can any of that really come to pass if we never have that feeling of satisfaction? We may have it "all together" on the outside, but how often do we really feel peace within?

I believe that there is a key that we as believers have been missing. That key is genuine freedom. You may be wondering what I mean when I say freedom. Some of you may be saying, "There is freedom here in America, we don't know anything but freedom." But I challenge you to really think about that saying.

What if you changed your definition of freedom. What would happen if you dared to dream once again that there is soemmthing deeper then outter freedom? A freedom of the mind, will, and emotions? A peace that surpasses all understanding? Yes…this is the freedom I am talking of. The freedom to think clearly without hinderances. The freedom to forgive.

We have an idea of freedom, but is that idea what Christ has really offered us? Is that idea truth? Is that idea all there is to grasp ahold of?

I think not. I think we need to go deeper and seek to find what Christ really accomplished for us on the cross that day….

Will you join me?

Today, take a minute, or 5 to ask God what His definition of freedom is. Dare to ask Him what He desires to reveal….

Father, today I ask that you begin to bring us revelation of Your freedom. Not just an idea that society or community has given us, but true understanding behind what You accomplished on the cross that day. Father, take us deeper; teach us to abide; teach us to soar….
