Three days…three things the Lord has been consistently dealing with my heart about. It all started Friday night as I was headed out to meet a fellow racer. I decided that since it was a drive, that was the perfect opportunity to listen to a message. Little did I know, this was the beginning of a weekend of love and revelation.

So, the message…"The Authority of the Sons of God" by Joe Zupetz. He talked about the light and he talked about how darkness floods the light. He gave the example along these lines: Picture yourself in a car in the middle of nowhere…if you open the door, even if only one of those inside lights work, the little light floods the entire car. We have authority to be that Light…we carry that light!

Then, I get to this ladies place, we meet and then head to her campus minister's house for dinner and a devotional. The devotional…well, I don't know what the point supposed to be but I know how God spoke to me. He spoke to me about anointing. He spoke to me about Lightness overcoming the dark. A quote given was by Nietzshce, "Christianity was a religion for the weak. It is powerless, irrelevant." Then, there was a question posed to us. "How is it possible to believe that Jesus' crucifixion was a victory rather than a defeat? And what power does His way-the way of the cross-have against the seemingly irresistible dark forces of this world?"

So then we have last night. I decided to tune into a webcast from Minneapolis. The ministry was Harold Eatmon Ministries International. They had a guest speaker as they were wrapping up their annual womens conferance. The guest speaker, Patricia Blue, said a couple things that struck the core of my being. First, anointing is great, but it's time to step in to our authority. The other thing was this, the glory is pouring out, we just have to reach out and receive it.

Then I go to church this morning. In LifeGroup, we talked about 2 Corinthians 1. One of the main things he pointed out about this chapter was verse 21. The chapter talks about suffering, comfort, and then comes this verse. "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God." Basic scripture right? Right…until he ties it in to the main message done out of Matthew 5:13-16.

So, by now, you are probably asking where is she going with all this? How do those tie together? Well, lets see…

We are all called to be disciples right? So our calling as believers is to be a disciple and bring honor and glory to God in everything we do. As disciples, we learn to walk in our anointing. God has anointed us to do His work. In Matthew 5:13, we see that we are salt to the earth. We are here, now, to be a preservative. Well, why does the earth need a preservative? Things that need preserving have the potential to spoil. So, in short, we are here to, as Brother Wade said this morning, to "delay the decay". Our second function that we have as disciples as mentioned in this passage was to be light. So, now it is all starting to come together.

We as believers have been called to be disciples of Christ. Jesus said in Luke 4:18, "The Spirit of the Lord is upno Me, because He has anointed Me to preache the gospel to the poor: He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…" Then we hop on over to 1 John 2:20-21. We see that we have an anointing from God Himself. So if Christ has given us the Holy Spirit, and it's Christ in us, the hope of glory, and if He has given us all authority (see Luke 9:1-2, Luke 10:19, Colossians 1:27), then we are able to effectivly fulfill the great commission given to us in Matthew 28:18-20 and there is really no excuse for allowing defeat to overtake us.

It is time to step beyond the anointing in to our God given authority. It is time to recognize our calling, receive the anointing with open hands and step in to our authority to overcome the enemy and distractions and fulfill all that God has called us to do. I think this is only the beginning…and as God continues to open my eyes to what He is trying to show me in all of this, I will pass it on.

What will you do with this word? What will you do new this week rather it be in regards to calling, anointing, or authority? What ground has the enemy stolen that you are going to redeem?
