“ I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn’t even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn’t even matter…”
I’m not sure how many of you remember Linkin Park’s hit In the End; but this song has a special place in my heart! When I was in high school, I went with my Youth Group to the Dream Center in Los Angeles, California. During that week we fed the homeless, prayed for people in parks, and performed a hip hop dance in Santa Monica. A moment that sticks out the most for me from that trip was acting as a drug dealer in a human video to In the End. Seeing God change people’s hearts through a song and dance changed my heart forever. I remember coming home from that trip and telling my parents that I wanted to spend my life helping people, showing them love and telling them about Jesus.
In trying to find a way to help people; I found myself in college for nursing. While in college I continued to fall in love with volunteering. I enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity and other community events. After graduation from college I moved to New Orleans, LA the summer after Hurricane Katrina and worked for Americorps. What a whirlwind experience that was! From working as a teacher, to running summer programs to opening a community center—it was such a wealth of opportunity.
I ended up moving back to the Pacific Northwest and have been working the last 7 years as a RN. I’ve been so lucky to spend my time doing what I love every day at work. God has given me so many opportunities to grow as a nurse and in my relationship with Him. I’ve been able to work in education, in emergency preparedness, urgent care and now pediatrics. I’ve been able to go across the world to work at a medical outreach and to work at local community health fairs. I’ve been a part of amazing church families throughout my life that have given me more support and guidance that I could ever say!
When I’m not working, I spend as much time as possible with my fantastic family and friends. I enjoy hiking, reading, seeing musicals in the theater, going to the beach, baking cupcakes, painting, quoting 80’s movies, going out for sushi and trying new things. I enjoy stretching myself creatively and taking art classes like jewelry making or glass blowing. I try to travel as much as I can; and love any random adventure I can be a part of.
Thank you for taking a moment to read a little bit more about me! This is me in a nut shell!
