today we raced. and………….. the
brown team came in third place. not bad since we were not strategically smart like the red and blue teams – who grabbed a map first and found all the destinations. then showed the cab driver in what order they wanted to go. obviously smarter for times sake. we just hopped in a cab, and with our not a lick of chinese, proceeded to explain in a mime like way where we needed to go. we showed him on the paper, and he took us. but he did not realize until after 15 minutes that we were in a race. so as we arrived at different destinations, we had him take our picture. well, the dude decided to take his good ol time. making sure he got in all the background. perfect angle. repositioned himself 27 times before he snapped it. are you kidding me? i was almost screaming. but does he understand us? noooooooo. lol. so we are yelling “quay quay” which means hurry. and he looks at us and laughs. whats that?!!
he finally caught on when the blue team pulled up to one of the locations and they were all running around too. i think then he started to get the hint and then switched from going about 5mp to about 10. 🙂 it was a lot of fun though.

oh, and before the race…we met this morning to go meet another missionary who moved to this area and started a leather business. he produced leather shoes and ships them to 27 countries. it was a pretty amazing testimony because he had no interest in this area whatsoever and absolutely no knowledge on leather. he said he was praying one day and God clearly told him that he would need to start reading up on making leather because he was going to start a business in this city. playing devils advocate, he kindly deferred the offer until God once again re-directed him here. little did he know that this city has the most (ok…i need help here because its a certain kind of leather) … out of the whole region. he was unable to stay here without some sort of business, as is common with most foreigners in china. so he has 9 muslim employees and he is able to share Christ through this business with them. we had a time of worship in his little shop and were able to check out his finished product!
after the race, we met up and all had dinner together. we debriefed a bit as we all will be leaving in the morning for our separate villages. if there is an internet cafe where we are headed, i will post this week. please keep us in your prayers as we will be standing in the gap here praying intensely for the muslim community. our city is 98% muslim, and as far as they know…does not have any Christians there. these people need to hear about Christ, and God-willing we will be able to share that with them.

i love you and will be looking forward to posting again soon!!
