monday…
a bit of training… ventured out into brownsville, tx to look for a car to buy for our trip. (we will be taking it to south mexico, guatemala, and then up to LA where we will hopefully sell it). we had a little bit of luck in contacting a couple churches who might have a van to sell us. we will be meeting up with them tomorrow. also checked into a few car lots. bus rides are also an option. we have the afternoon tomorrow to figure out our transportation and finalize it by 6:00. then we had a conference call with a lady back at AIM on team dynamics. this took place at an off-site in the country. beautiful place in the middle of nowhere, but the sun was shining, perfect breeze and this amazing little waterfall in the middle of their “prayer garden” after the meeting, we headed back home and had training the rest of the night on church building. dinner was chicken, veggies, and rice. sweet ๐
tuesday…
today was very productive. we woke up and engaged in our devotions, and then had our daily praise and worship time together. a staff member from AIM trained us on some different countries and little tips that are helpful. i’m sure we will appreciate them greatly when we reach those countries! we had a little more church planting training and then a quick lunch before we set out to the villages. since i am working with part staff/part brown team i joined the team today as we set out to this village they call the “dump.” it is located near the dump in matamoros and this is where the people gather all their supplies to build and live with. it is a very poverty stricken area but we were greatly received by all. we had bags of bread and rolls we distributed to the people. megan came along and translated for us which was helpful. i know bits and pieces of spanish (and am striving to learn more daily) but not nearly enough for more than a 30 second conversation. we were able to pray over a deaf boy and another mothers son who throws fits constantly. at 6:30 tonight, we led a cell group which is like a little Bible study for the village people. we sang a few worship songs (in spanish..so it was like uh ahi hiofdsiojio jfiodsjoij jkfljdslaj) ๐ but they understood. ๐ and then gave a little message through a translator. we prayed for a mans parents and also the financial situation of the town. the people were such a blessing to me and i felt i could really see the Jesus in them…even if it was just through their smile. God is continuing to show Himself faithful to our group and i’m so excited to see what He has in store for us as each day unfolds! thanks for all your prayers and support! i love you all and will keep in touch!
