heyheyhey!

its been a great past few days so i will try to recap a little for you…  saturday morning we took an “off day.”  the guys who regularly hang out at the coffee shop took us to this little park for the day.  there were a few pools, a soccer (or futbol) field, and a beautiful mountain to climb.  we packed a picnic and left around 10.

when we first arrived, we set up shop around the pool.  i laid down, very comfortable i might add, and the guys were like “what are you doing, we are climbing the mountain.”  ya, ok.  i had already established that was not happening again, but they convinced me it was only an hour hike and well worth it.  so, of course i had to join them.  they were right, it was well worth the light jog up the windy mountain.

when we set foot on the top, we all just took a minute and gazed around.  the view is priceless.  just beautiful.  they then walked us over to this “sand slide” that they love to run….jump…and then slide down.  its more like a dirt hill, but they entertained us for a bit with their little show.  clay, one of the guys, kept picking at me to jump it too.  i, of course, had a skirt on which was an easy escape out.  little did i know, i was soon conned into coming back with him this week to jump it.  even had to make it official with the “pinkie swear promise.”  im such a sucker sometimes.  BUT there is also a vine that is safe to swing on a little farther up, so i think we might hit that up too.  i´ll borrow a camera and post pictures so you all can laugh at me!

so, the rest of the day we just relaxed and hung out in the beautiful sunshine!  every day is literally perfect weather.  75 and sunny.  im in heaven 🙂  that night, when we returned home we decided to have a meal out.  afterwards, we met up with abner and friske and listened to a little live music.  it was such a relaxing day!

today was also pretty eventful.  we woke up this morning and worked on some logistics for our trip to Panajachel and then also to LA.  its crazy we are leaving already!  after that, we headed down to the hospital to visit with Nidia and hold those precious little babies.  Nidia is the girl who accepted Christ a few days ago, so we have been reading to her.  we also arranged with the nurses to take her out to lunch on Wednesday and have a little “fiesta” for her.

after we spent some time with her, we headed up to the babies area.  also my favorite area.  there are many many babies laying lonesome in their little cages.  today i was drawn to little angelita.  she was admitted into the hospital when she was a baby because her intestines were born outside of her body.  she is a perfect little girl, and im not real sure what they can do for that.  she can walk, respond, laugh.  absolutely beautiful.  so we played and explored the whole area.  its so sad though, when you put them back in their cribs because they just sob.  i think i would sleep with her if i could fit.

when we returned back home for the day, we decided to take up the offer of free salsa classes two blocks away.  the five of us girls headed down there on a mission.  and it was so much fun!  they have free one hour classes a few times a week and so we joined right in.  they began with the basic steps and then had all the guys line up and we just kept moving down the line practicing.  we are going to head back there again tomorrow night to test our skills again 🙂  kim and i decided we need to learn a new dance in each country.  🙂

so that brings us to right now…about a quarter to eight and i think we are going to go whip up a little pb & j for dinner.  i also plan on reading todays segment of our reading schedule and have the memory verse with Laura and Friske to implant in my head which is…

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ, even when we were (dead in transgressions) – it is by grace you have been saved!”   -Ephesians 2:4

thank you all for your continued support and prayers!  they are carrying us through, and we hope to only return the love by holding you all up as well!

a simple few words that we sang in church really touched me…and i hope they become your prayer as well…

Give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world…
But give me Jesus.

all my love and prayers…
