I just finished wiping frosting out of my nose. Yes, naïve little Jessica had her face smashed in a cake this afternoon. Or should I say, it was mostly my fault. J Today marked the big 24 and my team made it extra special!! Kim had the sweetest card next to me with flowers and a gift when I woke up. Then after being sneaky all day, I walked into the kitchen and my team had a cake, piñata, and chocolate for me! How sweet J so, they tell me that its Mexican tradition that the birthday person starts with her own piece (which is separate from the cake) and cannot use her hands to eat it. So I’m thinking, ok I am in a different culture and the Pastor and his family are all around also, so alright…I’ll do it. They all start chanting something foreign and as I bend my head down to “take a bite” my SWEET friend Kim thrusts me from behind. Who really is that stupid?? Needless to say, my mouth wasn’t the only thing filled with goodness 🙂
This morning we had a mixture of eggs and potatoes for breakfast along with uh, beans. Anyone who knows me knows I would rather eat dirt. And surprisingly…this is the first time it has been served. Wheew! Since it is offensive to not eat what is on your plate, I quickly scooped them up and piled them on Paul’s plate He then replies, “do you and Kim think you guys are going to be able to do this all year to me?” Hehe… um. YES. 🙂
After breakfast and our quiet time on the roof (and might I add its 80 degrees and beautiful here 🙂 we ventured out into another village. We split off into groups and each took a different path of houses to stop at. We had a girl who spoke Spanish with us, which is VERY helpful and led us into the homes. We were invited inside to talk with many families. Our translator would tell us their prayer requests and if they knew Jesus or not…and then we would lay hands on them and each pray. One lady and one man accepted Christ today!! How incredible!!!!! To hear them repeat the prayer and invite Christ into their hearts just brought tears to my eyes. J We left them with a Spanish bible and are heading back there tonight to have a church service with them. We will be connecting them with the Pastor we are working with so he can continue to feed them spiritually. It’s amazing to see God work. In the lives of children, teens, adults…elderly. No matter what color, nationality, or emotional state we are in…He meets us where we are.
If you have never invited Christ into your heart…I encourage you to take that step of faith and let Him lead your life. Email me or post a comment if you want to know more…
Tomorrow is an off day so we are going to catch up on some laundry and maybe search for a place that fixes cameras. mine was dropped tonight 🙁
All my love, thoughts, and prayers…
