I apologize for not writing sooner– I just have too much to say!
The last few weeks have been absolutely overwhelming in what the Lord has been teaching me and my team, so I decided to wait until the end and then write some all-encompassing blogs just talking about what He’s been doing in us.
I wrote a while back about the seasons of our lives; right now I’m in a season of harvest– and the Lord has poured out an abundance that I could never have imagined. And all of it is revolving around the same theme: His Glory.
A couple days before we left Uganda, the Lord used a Matt Chandler sermon to show me that it’s all about bringing Him glory. This entire creation, my very existence, He created to bring Himself glory, because He is the ultimate good. Somehow this was really freeing– it took the focus off of me, off of others, and brought it back to Him. It was really freeing and at the same time gave me this big responsibility, to live in a way that brings Him glory. I even shared some of this with the whole squad– we’re not here to feel good or look good in ministry, we are here to bring glory to Him and Him alone.
This theme is central to everything the Lord has brought to my team during our time in Tanzania. In this series of blogs, almost everything points back to glorifying the Lord. I’m still processing a lot of it, and I think writing it all out like this will help. I have to warn you, I’m probably going to be more open than I’ve ever been on a blog. There are some things I feel the Lord leading me to confess that are absolutely terrifying. But I have a feeling it’s going to feel really good in the end to get it all off my chest.
I will try and keep the blogs as concise as possible, without losing any of the meat of what He’s been doing. If I wrote about every time the Lord used two or three completely different sources to show me the exact same verses and ideas, this would be a novel. Blogs (from people not on the race), sermons (from different churches, pastors, continents), teammates– it’s like He somehow got them all together and created a massive conspiracy to get them all to point to the same verses and ideas. I won’t detail all of these cross-references, but it’s been absolutely beautiful how He has woven all these different influences together to teach me the same thing. Even without all that detail, these blogs are still going to be crazy long though, so grab a drink, put on some great Christmas tunes (I recommend “Salvation is Created” by Bifrost Arts), and enjoy!
