Last month, my squad mate Kim and I laid hands.

This time, it wasn’t on a woman who was ill or on a child with a fever like we did in Guatemala.

No.

This time we laid hands on my computer.

To understand how I got here, I must take you back to a month ago when my team and I were in Thailand. On our last Saturday off, we woke up excited to go ride elephants and pet tigers.

You know, typical off day adventures for World Racers in Asia.

Before breakfast, I plugged in my laptop to let it charge a bit before we left. But with all the hustle and bustle in getting ready for the day, I neglected to unplug it before heading out.

The temperature that day was at least 100 degrees and felt even hotter inside the 2X4 walls of the outside attic we lived in.

When we returned from our adventures, I went to get my computer and realized I had left it plugged in for hours. This wasn’t good.

I immediately unplugged it and sat it front of the fan to cool. When I tried using it, it functioned slowly and was noticeably affected by the heat.

After a few days of letting it rest, I went to plug it in again and it didn’t work.

Technology was not on my side.

I was especially discouraged because just a few days prior, all of my pictures and video from the month were erased from my SD card and now it appeared that my computer was fried.

I felt under attack but, I was determined to pray my way through this. After all, aside from my pictures, this was an electronic that could be replaced.

My teammate Edwin offered to let me use his charger and it worked on my computer!

This was great! All hope wasn’t lost. I just needed to get a new charger.

When we got to Chiang Mai for our Leadership Development weekend, I went to the mall during our free time to get a new charger. I brought my computer with me to be sure that it was just the charger that needed to be replaced.

This would be easy as pie .. so I thought.

I went to several retail stores and tested various chargers and nothing worked. Through broken English, I gathered from each associate that something was wrong with my computer. Something that couldn’t be fixed simply by buying a new charging adapter. They recommended that I leave my computer for a few days to be looked at further.

I couldn’t do this.

We wouldn’t be in Thailand for a few days. We were scheduled to leave the very next day so leaving my computer was not an option.

On the last day of our retreat, I shared with Kim about my computer and my SD card. She asked if she could pray with me for God to restore my computer and every picture and video that was lost.

Having faith, I agreed and we laid hands on both my computer and SD card. We prayed a small, simple prayer but with big belief that God is more than able to heal even something as insignificant as a computer and a memory card.

We prayed that He would use this experience to bring Himself glory.

And He did!

When we settled in Myanmar, I borrowed Edwin’s charger again. I plugged in my computer and boom! It started charging! I was overjoyed!

To top things off, the next day I researched and found a software that allowed me to restore all that was lost on my SD card.

I experienced a technological miracle through faith, knowing that God is the One who restores not just my soul but my electronics too. smiley
