I spent the month of September in the Philippines, serving at The Legacy Home. The Legacy Home, founded by Pastor Dustin and Dawn DeBoef, takes in orphaned children and gives them a new life, an education, and most importantly a chance to know Jesus.

My team and I spent day in and day out with 20 wonderful children. Every morning we woke for breakfast and morning devotions. After devotions the children attended home school and we assisted Ate [pronounced A-tay] Beth in the kitchen.

Mid-day the children would break and we would all have lunch together and then it was back to class. Our elementary school knowledge was put to the test as we assisted the children with their studies.

After school, was recreational time in which we spent playing pool, running around outside looking for spiders, playing the guitar or doing other fun things.

Each day two children were responsible for setting the tables for dinner and after dinner was another devotion. It was beautiful to see each day how these children love Jesus and each other. Everyday we heard them walking around singing worship songs with bright smiles on their faces.

From the youngest, baby Reuben who is one, to the oldest who is 16 – these children are creating a legacy of their own with a foundation built on Jesus Christ.

I have no doubt that every one of these kids will grow up to be world changers and am honored to have spent the month loving them.

"People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.'" – Mark 10:13-15
