"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,"
Hebrews 12:2a
So I'm getting pretty pumped about this whole World Race thing! I think most of us on the team are. We are connecting through blogs, Skype and the ever popular Facebook. We're opening up with prayer requests, praying for one another, sharing support raising ideas, joking around…getting to know one another. After all, we will be spending 11 months of intense time together. We come from a variety of backgrounds. Reading the "stories" of the different team members has been very interesting. We come from a lot of different places. Liteally we do. The US, the UK and Canda so far I believe. We have many different family situations and life experiences. Some of us are new to the faith and others have been raised in it from birth.
We all have one thing in common though…JESUS. It's pretty much the greatest thing EVER to have in common with people! Because, if you have Jesus as your common denominator, you have a SOLID foundation to build a lasting relationship on. You always have that one thing to go back to. The differences can sharpen you and broaden your view beyond your own. You can learn lots from others and their unique experiences if you choose to.
With this group there is something a bit more specific about all this that we have in common. The Lord has all of us going on the WR in September 2011. He has put us all on the same team for some reason. He will place us in our specific squads for a unique purpose(s). I know one thing. It's all to bring HIM glory.
God is cutting a path for us. For you. For me. For this team. I feel like I'm learning so much more about the gospel lately. About the lost. About the Word. About God. About myself and how all of this plays an intricate role. I'm not waiting for September to start growing and learning and changing and being challenged. It's happening NOW. It has been happening.
I'm one of those people that believes that everything happens for a reason. No accidents. Everything has purpose. Everything CAN be used for good. I'm learning life is all about perspective as well. Your world-view. Your attitude. This takes away a lot of our excuses and the whole "blame game" thing.
I'm not really sure what the "point" of this blog is…I'm just kind of thinking and typing what's going through my mind at the same time.
I guess overall, I'm SUPER excited about this next step that Lord has for me and about many of the details that go along with it! God is growing me through it already. I'm excited for Training Camp in July when our team will all meet in person! I'm excited for all of the adventures and challenges and new things ahead. I'm excited to be sharpened by my teammates and grow in the Lord together.
There are so many unknowns ahead, but I'm not really frightened (not now anyways!). God is soveriegn. He is good. He knows best. His plans are ALWAYS better than mine. Who know's what He'll do tomorrow?!
Expect great things from Him. 🙂
"This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe."
I Timothy 4:9-10
