A Journal Entry of mine from May 23rd, 2012

Month 9 of the World Race

Cambodia

Well, the vacation’s over.  We’re back – wherever this village is.  I feel like I can’t even describe just how wonderful our time at the beach was.  I seriously didn’t want to leave.  I shared Jesus more in those days than I have the past several months I think.

I went and got coffee every morning at Malibu and talked with the Korean owner, John.  Jesus opened up the doors for me to share and listen with him.

John grew up in Korea for 23 years, then lived in Cali for 16 years, I think, and has been living in Cambodia for the rest.

He won a national sword-fighting championship in Korea.  In the States he became and auto mechanic and owned two gas stations (Cheverons I believe).  He decided he wanted to be a white collar worker so he became a stock broker.  He lived in Angkor Wat – wrote a legit book on it.  Started his own publishing company.  Wrote another book on buying land in Cambodia.  Now he owns a guesthouse/restaurant on Serendipity Beach in Cambodia.

He has a girlfriend/wife (not sure) and a 5 year old daughter.  He’s a sweetie for sure.

The first morning he shared a lot, but not quite as much the next 2 mornings.

My last morning he didn’t let me pay for my breakfast.

I asked if I could pray for him; he told me I could.

I asked what he wanted me to pray for, and he said peace and happiness.

I put my hand on him and prayed.  We took a couple of pictures together and said goodbye…

That time was such a special, meaningful time in the mornings.

I went to have quiet time on the beach (that first morning), but it started to rain so I went to take cover at John’s guesthouse.

I love the way Jesus guides my every step.  He’s the author of my story.  He controls the wind and rain and opens up the doors to share the gospel.

We just have to pay attention.
