Holy:
exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness
A holy God is who I serve.
Sometimes I forget this, but He seems to be showing me this over and over again lately. It’s one of those themes I can’t ignore.
“But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy’.”
I Peter 1:14-15
What does it mean to be holy as He is holy?
My sins appear too great.
The grey gets comfortable. I’m
tricked into thinking that this world is my home.
And then I hear His voice again…
Calling me back, calling me back once again to Him.

Calling me up to a higher standard. Calling me out of my desensitized fog and
into His freedom and light.
His ways are higher and better and sweeter and richer than
this world’s.
Why am I so easily deceived?!
Time after time He shows me His faithfulness
and goodness.
Yet I continue to look back and believe that this world
offers me something better than He does.
My heart is broken.
My sin is before me. My
foolishness is at my feet.
When will I be completely convinced of His goodness? What more must He do?
He’s already given me everything.
Jesus’ blood covered it all.
It wasn’t cheap.
It was costly.

So expensive was my freedom.
I was bought at a high price. The
very Son of a holy God sacrificed His life for my ransom.
He really did pay it all.
Father, make me holy as you are holy. May not a drop of Your Son’s blood be
wasted. Continue to call me higher and
yet higher. May I never settle for the
mammon of this world when You offer me eternal riches. In You and only in You I find true freedom. I love you, Lord. You are worthy of it all.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Romans 12:1
