Greetings from Panajachel, Guatemala! With 30 hours of travel time from Dallas to Guatemala City, with a stop in Boston to meet up my team and then our connection flight in Miami, we have arrived to the town of Panajachel, a rather touristy area about 3 hours from Guatemala City.
Our squad has been here now for just about a week. We’ve spent the week in ‘mission launch mode ‘-basically a few days of additional teaching, worship, small team preparations, evenings filled with team ‘debriefs’ of our day and spending some time walking through the city, meeting locals and declaring Kingdom over the nation of Guatemala.
On Saturday our squad will be breaking off into our small teams and will be departing for our own individual ministry assignments. My team has been assigned ministry in the city of Heuheu (pronounced Way-Way). On Saturday morning my team will be responsible for finding our own transportation from where we are now to the city, which probably means riding on what the locals call ‘chicken buses’-imagine tightly jammed old buses with all of our backpacks strapped on the roof! Once we arrive to the city of Heuheu, our ministry contact, Pastor Eduardo, will be picking us up and bringing us to their site. There we will be teaming up alongside a medical missions team that is scheduled to arrive shortly after us. This is the first time AIM has partnered with this ministry, however, this contact was highly recommended to them from another sister ministry that AIM and The World Race has worked with before. AJ, our team leader has already spoken with Pastor Eduardo and he has shared with AJ that, in addition to working with the medical missions team, we may be working at an orphanage and we will have opportunities to preach and share testimonies with a local church. We are scheduled to be at this ministry site for the remainder of the month.
I’ll be sure to have a blog up once we arrive there with more! Please be sure to check out other blogs from my team, Team Abandon, as well as blogs from others on the I Squad.
Again thank you all for your support and your faithful prayers. Please continue to pray for the nation of Guatemala. God is at work here and He is passionate for their souls!
