This month I’ve been at three different ministry sites. For this blog, I want to spend time on the orphanage that I’ve been at. This Christian based orphanage is home to 12 boys. Most of the children at this orphanage have been diagnosed with HIV/ AIDS leaving them at the bottom of the  “I want to adopt him” list, especially the older ones. Each day this orphanage has dozens of calls that come in asking them to take in more children. It brought me to tears knowing that each day these dozens of phone calls get turned down because they don’t have the funds to help more children. They want to be able to but they already have more children they could originally fund.

Being at this home and seeing these children God has broken my heart for these children. All I want to do while I’m there is love on them and believe me if I could figure out a way to carry them all in my back pack for the next 8 months I would in a heart beat!! I just love these children and it breaks my heart thinking about how someone could not want them. I took a parenting class in college for my Child & Family Development minor and when we talked about adoption I never really considered it as something that I would want to do.

James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

After being here, that opinion has completely changed. It’s something that if starting a family God has in the plan for my life I want to do. The name of the orphanage is Pedacito de Cielo, which means a Little Piece of Heaven, and it truly is.

Ephesians 1:3-10 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. for he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be ADOPTED as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

Thank you God for adopting me as YOUR DAUGHTER!!
