The first
week during our time in Quito our team rotated on 3 people going to the children’s
hospital and 3 people staying at the church to hold vacation bible school for
the children. Well it was my turn to go to the hospital and I was really
exciting about going… until we got there. I was so overwhelmed by the amount of
children there. When we walked through the front doors there were at least 300
people standing and waiting. My heart sank into the pit of my stomach and all I
wanted to do was cry. As Lindsey, Amanda, and I walked around we went into
different rooms and asked the parents if we could pray for their children and
everyone let us. Some people even came up asking us to pray once they saw what
we were doing. As I started praying for these children I also started to pray
that God would show me a miracle… whether it was a child getting up and walking
or anything. I wanted to experience His power on a whole different level. I have
read God’s word and believe that Jesus healed the blind, restored a girl to
life, healed the mute, cleansed lepers, and more. I wanted to see that. I didn’t
see it then but I still believe that God will heal all of His children that we
saw in the hospital that day.

I didn’t end
up going back to the hospital but my prayer was still that He would show that
to me. On Thursday afternoon during the time in which our English classes were
going on 3 women of the church prayed over each member of our team one by one. I
went first. During the time that we were praying Andrea was beside me, her mom
in front of me and her friend behind me while we were sitting on the floor. I
had my legs stretched out while Andrea and I were praying about inequities and
that’s when I noticed Andrea’s mom looking at my feet. I thought to myself “oh
no. She noticed. I should probably explain… about two years ago I realized
that one of my legs was slightly shorter than the other. (no one knew unless I told
them) I got to the point when I was working out or running it would really hurt
my knee and sometimes my hip but I didn’t think that surgery was necessary and didn’t
want to make a big deal out of it. So anyways I was right, she noticed. She
grabbed my feet and started praying. Trying to still listen to Andrea I was
watching her mom pray over me. At that moment my knee started shaking, I mean
literally shaking from the inside out. Then it felt as if someone stroked my
leg but no one even touched my leg and I realized what had happened and I began
laughing and crying all at the same time. When she prayed over my leg is GREW! I
mean it literally grew!! God made my legs the same length!! When I was praying
that God would show me a miracle I wasn’t even thinking about myself. After we
finished prayer I ran to my teammates and told them what happened. I was
crying, laughing, dancing, jumping, and running in circles!! I couldn’t contain
the excitement that I was feeling. I can’t wait to share with the world what
God is doing in my life and I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for
our team.

Matthew 9:22 “Jesus turned, and seeing her he
said, ‘Take heart, daughter; you faith has made you well.’ And instantly the
woman was made well.
