After our fourth bus ride we met up with some people with
the organization, Incalink and they took us to where two of the teams on our
squad would be staying. Our team only went there so that we could rest before
getting on the next bus that night. At this point I still haven’t slept and
everyone else is exhausted as well. The two teams that are staying at the house
had to have a meeting to talk about the ministry there and what they would be
doing. So our team saw this as prime napping opportunity! Someone else thought
different though… in comes Karson. He’s the missionary’s 8 year old son. He
came in there to talk to us and if you’ve ever given an 8 year old a Red Bull
it’s pretty much how Karson is naturally.  He went on and on and on AND ON! (I say that laughing and
smiling.. not angrily because I loved every minute of it!) He told us all about
his life, even his “big secret.” Don’t tell him I told you but he’s from China
(he’s adopted). Then someone on our team asked him why him and his family moved
to Peru. Shockingly his answer had our entire team in tears, our hearts were
flooded with joy, and we were humbled by the words of an 8 year old.

Karson told us that the reason his family moved was because
they had to tell everyone about God. Also, that they had to be obedient to Him
and give their lives to Him because He gave His son to die for us so we owe Him
everything.  Karson told us that
God deserved every part of our life. If you’re wondering, yes I’m still talking
about an 8 year old child. After he told us why he moved to Peru, he started
reciting scripture to us word for word. He picked up Cristie’s (our squad
leader) bible and turned to about 20 of his favorite verses and told us about
each one of them! I, well our entire team, was so encouraged by his faith.

It
reminded me of… Matthew 18:3-4 “and said, ‘Truly,
I say to you unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the
kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in
the kingdom of heaven.”
