Sometimes
we like to just sit where we are and are stagnant in that. Sometimes we run
ahead so fast and miss out on what we are running past. Sometimes we are moving
forward and then look back on where we were, allowing fear and insecurities to
grab hold of us. Sometimes we allow other things to distract us that lead us
down a different path…

Sunday
morning I woke up feeling like I just wanted to cry. I felt like I just had to
continue to hold it all together and be strong, but I was ready to burst. I
went to the children’s service at 10 and then went home after. I didn’t think
that I could sit through a service without walking out. When I got home I lay
down to take a nap and was woken up because on the race you’re never truly
alone. About 30 minutes later Nathan came in and said that he was going to hike
up the mountain. I saw it as a way out and asked if I could go with. Backpack
strapped on, grilled cheese sandwich in one hand and red bull at the ready, we set off for the mountain. We got close to the end of the street and studied
the mountain to see where we wanted to go. Nathan wanted to try a different way than we had been the day
before with the others so we took the right side and just headed up. We
followed a trail for a little bit then started following the river bend and
then we made our own trail. We go to one rock on the side of the
mountain and sat there for a few minutes and then kept going. About 10 minutes later
we came to another rock that hung over the side of the mountain with the most
beautiful view I’ve ever seen. Nathan and I sat there and talked for about a
hour or so. Then he wanted to continue exploring so I told him to have fun. I
heard someone yell my name and I turned around to Nathan stand on one of the
highest point on the mountain. I sat there for a second and decided that I
wanted to go up there too when he told me how beautiful it was. Next thing I
know he’s guiding me up the mountain where we have to boulder on the side, hang over the edge, and make sure the rocks below don’t fall from underneath my feet. This is NOT something that I would normally do at home but for
some reason I wasn’t as scared as I thought I’d be. If you ask Nathan he might
tell you different though. Once we finally got to the top, it was the most
breath-taking view I had ever seen.

…Then
other times when you ask the Lord for guidance and His direction, you end up on
top of a mountain standing in awe of His creation.

Sometimes
you don’t know what you’re about to step into but you just have to trust that
the Lord has you. Reach you hand out and let Him grab hold of you! Even if you
slip, keep your eyes on Him and He won’t let you fall.

(p.s. of course this is the one day I forget my camera.)
