DON’T WORRY! WE MADE IT TO SOUTH AFRICA!
We arrived in Jo-berg on December 13th. Our ministry site is about 20 minutes outside of Jo-berg on a large farm. The organization that we are working with is called TLC (The Love of Christ), an international orphanage that has been around since 1993. Our main focus here is working in the nursery where we will be with children from newborn to 3 years old.
The day after we arrived here we were given an off day to recover from the travel days. As we were driving, I was sitting in the back staring out the window thinking about our ministry ahead. I’m going to be honest. I wasn’t exactly thrilled with what we were about to do this month. I’m not sure if it was because I haven’t really been around babies, at least not since my sister was born… she’s 17 now. Or maybe because my favorite age group to work with is middle schoolers. As I was thinking about the children and wondering what this next month would bring, God spoke to me.
You pray that you want to love like Christ. You pray that you want to love until it hurts. When you ask for those things then say ‘babies aren’t my thing,’ you are putting a limit on my love. You are putting limits on what I can do in and through you. Jessica love these children and love them well.”
WHOA!! Day one… alright. If I want to love like Christ, then I must love the middle schoolers, as well as the babies to the senior citizens and everyone in between. I must love all of His children.
Thank you God for showing me more of you and your love!

the love of my life!!
