A little over a week ago my team along with 2 other teams hopped on board the 7 o’clock train for our 12 hour journey to Oredea, Romania.

A few people have asked about the ministry that we are doing
here.  This month we have the privilege
to work along side Caminul Felix (www.caminulfelix.org
for more info).

Millions of children of all ages have been abandoned by
unfortunate circumstances. These children experience despair and
loneliness  in their lives due to these
circumstances. The suffering among the rejected children is the calling of this
organization. They believe that the only hope for full life is to be given a
new, real family, with a mother and a father, and with the security and caring
love a family can provide. This type of environment transforms the lives of
these children.

The concept of the Felix Family is an expression of the love
and care from the parents and is also an expression how God’s loving presence
brings healing and restoration to everyone. The vision of Felix Family Villages
is to meet the physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs of the orphaned
and abandoned children of the world, in a loving environment.

Our contacts this month are parents of one of the houses in
Village 2. This loving couple became the parents of 16 children at age 24!
Mitchell showed us pictures of his family and it’s absolutely amazing to see
how much he loves and adores his family. He is so proud of each one of his
children. They aren’t his children until they are old enough to be out on their
own, they are his children for life! He showed us pictures from graduations,
weddings, and grandchildren.

These families don’t keep adding on more children, instead
they bring in new parents. As their children grow up to start a life of their
own, the idea is for the parents to move into a traditional home… That’s where
we come in. Each day, for about 5 hours, we’ve gone down the road to a
construction site to help with these transitional homes. Shoveling and moving
dirt, and digging trenches (with pick axes, shovels, and hammers..?). I am so
excited to have a month of physical labor, as well as time to rest, enjoy God’s
creation, and invest in other teams on our squad!
