For the past several months I have been raving about Matthew West’s new CD: SOMETHING TO SAY. Several of these songs have hit the airwaves and are now played on the local Christian radio station. Yesterday, while getting ready to run errands, I heard the song YOU ARE EVERYTHING and it stopped me dead in my tracks, inspiring me to lift my hands and voice in praise. The words to this song are so powerful that I can’t help sharing some of them with you. The second verse and chorus read:

I’m the one with big mistakes
Big regrets and bigger breaks
Than I’d ever care to confess
Oh but, You’re the one who looks at me
And sees what I was meant to be
More than just a beautiful mess

Where would I be without someone to save me
Someone who won’t let me fall

You are everything that I live for
Everything that I can’t believe is happening
You’re standing right in front of me
With arms wide open
All I know is
Every day is filled with hope
‘Cause You
are everything that I breathe for
And I can’t help but breathe you in
Breathe again
Feeling all this life within
Every single beat of my heart

You’re everything good in my life
Everything honest and true
And all of those stars hanging up in the sky
Could never shine brighter than You

How powerful it is to have such a vivid picture of a Christ centered life painted for us, and how TRUE these words truly are. As I continue to prepare for the World Race journey that lies ahead, I find that my “TO DO” list grows longer every day and that satan continues to attack me in attempt to prevent the wonderful things that the Lord has in store. Ironically, I don’t doubt that my life these days is rather similar to many of yours. In a world filled with pressure for individual success, materialism, hatred and sin, satan makes it rather easy for us to become blinded by our earthly lives and to lose sight of our lives in Christ. Fortunately, we have a Heavenly Father who “sees what we are meant to be” in Him and fills our days with HOPE because He sent his son Jesus to save us from the very things that pull us astray. When we make our Lord and Savior our EVERYTHING, even the darkest clouds can hint at the promise of brighter days.

So, how does God become our everything? In the same way work, family or ourselves become our everything: we make it (or in this case HIM) our priority. This is something I battle with daily-making God NUMBER ONE. I’d be lying if I said it was easy, however, I have found, through spending intentional time with Him each and every day, that He is quickly becoming my EVERYTHING! I pray the same for you.
