The weekend after arriving in Germany happened to be the weekend the German church celebrates Pentecost.  Although few understand the significance, this is a 3-day holiday weekend for both believers and non-believers.  In celebration of Pentecost, our contact organizes a camping retreat to Holland each year at this time.  This year, Remnant was fortunate enough to join the fun.  The weekend included camping in trailers at a Christian camping site, teachings on Pentecost, lots of good food and fellowship and a Saturday afternoon of site seeing in the surrounding area.  This year, our group decided to make the one-hour trip to Amsterdam and spend the day site seeing and fellowshipping there.

I must confess that Amsterdam was not a place I expected to have a divine appointed moment with a group of strangers, but…

I DID!

Michelle and I found ourselves walking through the middle of an open square and decided to take some pictures when we heard a familiar African worship song:

“Higher, higher,
Higher, higher, higher,
Higher, higher,

Lift up Jesus higher”

Our eyes lit up as we saw the group singing praises to the Lord 10 feet in front of us.  Michelle’s instant reaction was to suggest we go up and say “Hello”, so we did.  We met two beautiful women from Holland who were evangelizing on the square that day and a group of African missionaries who were there, visiting.  As we joined them in another song of praise and closed our time in prayer my heart overflowed with joy and thanksgiving.  What an awesome moment to share in community with the Lord and our brothers and sisters in Christ from across the world!

We found LOVE in Amsterdam…Halleluiah!
