She’s fifteen minutes late when we arrive at our meeting location at Starbucks. “What if she doesn’t come?” we wonder. It’s happened countless times before. The women will say that they’ll meet you, mostly to be polite and not to say no, but then they will end up sleeping through your lunch date. We try calling again with no answer. Speaking confidence into each other we go outside to wait just a bit longer. We’ve already got her birthday rose and bracelet ready. And then she’s there, walking down the road looking way cuter than anything we brought on th

e Race with us. When she see’s us, her face lights up with a smile, making it worth the wait. We go to a café and buy her a birthday lunch. During the conversation, Stephani asks about her plans for the future. Sunday night was her last night at the bars. Her Aussie boyfriend is coming soon to stay in Thailand for a couple days, and then take her back to Australia for a couple months. Stephani inquired if she liked working at the bars and would go back, which Daisy was hesitant in responding ‘no.’ We offered her a flier for the ministry we’re working with, where she can go and make jewelry and make money without having to work in the bars. Her eyes lit up as she read the paper, as she saw the opportunity she could have when she came back. We didn’t get to talk much after that, because she had to go pray to her Buddha since it was her birthday. Stephani used the opportunity to tell her that we pray to our God, and got to share Jesus’ love with her.
We continued to go back to the bar the next week-playing the nail

game and drinking Cokes. We built a good relationship with the bar owner by buying a bow for her dog, Waka (that name is real) who is absolutely adorable. She doesn’t mind that we come and spend anywhere from 30-45 minutes talking to her girls. Last Friday we took Rose and Daisy bowling. They tied for last, but it was an awesome time just to get them out of the bar environment. Rose is 35 and had 2 kids, but one son died of cancer. The other is 5. It was possibly the last time we would get to see Daisy-but we ended on a high note.
Please continue to pray for Daisy and Rose and all of the women jus tlike them, feeling like they are trapped in the bars, and that that is their only option. Pray that God continues to bring people into their lives, to show them His everlasting love and faithfulness and to share Jesus with them.
