I went splunking once.  We got into the depths of the cave and shut off our lights.  It was dark.  I mean, REALLY dark. So dark I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face when it was touching my nose.  In darkness like that, you don’t dare move around, because there’s no way of knowing where you’re going or what you’ll run into.

A couple times a week we go downtown to this road where there are over 200 bars, on ONE ROAD!  There’s an average of 6 girls working at each bar which means that there are over 1200 GIRLS!
Oh, that’s what we’re doing this month.  We go to bars.  We talk to the girls that work there, as well as the customers.  We socialize. We love them with a pure, no-agenda, kind of love.  It’s awesome.

But it’s dark.  it reminds me of the story I shared.  These people are trapped in this darkness.  They can’t see what’s right in front of them.  Satan has cast a veil over this place.  Darkness has run rampant there for far too long.  They don’t try to move from the darkness, because when you can’t see, you don’t risk it.

But here’s a secret for you.

There’s no such thing as dark.  No.  The very definition of dark is “devoid of light.”   Again, there is no dark.  There is only an absence of LIGHT

2 Samuel 22:29
You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light.

Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?
Matthew 5:14
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden

John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

That is our goal.  Our mission.  Our purpose this month.  We are the light of God in a dark place.
