hong kong was a lot of fun. i really liked it a lot. we stayed at a hostel on the 16th floor. and i was blessed to have a bed that over looked the city. it was so beautiful. lots of lights and people.
we got up the next morning and got all of our stuff together and started our mile and a half walk to the bus station. with all of our stuff. we stopped half way for a break and a very healthy breakfast at mcdonalds. we may not see a mcdonalds for quite a while…..or we can hope. then kept on….got on a bus for a few hours, switched buses then arrived in the city we would be taking the train from. we had about 5 hrs to wait and really no where to wait so we piled all of our stuff into the lobby of a hotel. shortly after they asked us to leave and then we piled it all outside the door. they weren’t really excited about that either but very soon after we headed for the train station anyway.
we were on the train for about 37 hrs. i pretty much slept the entire time….i played my guitar a little. we did got to the restaurant on the train once and ordered some boiled tofu and rice. i was not a fan of the tofu and then i accidently poured vinager all over my rice. no good. after that i decided i would just sleep again. towards the end of the trip there was snow. it was so beautiful. once we arrived we all had to get into taxis and make our way to the town we are in now which was another 2 hrs away. our taxi took about 3 and a half hrs. because there was a tractor that was digging a hole on one side of the road a
nd it was taking up the other side. so we got to sit and watch them dig for a while.
we are here now, but the teams are splitting up tomorrow and going to different villages. it is so cold here. i am not a fan of the cold. but other than that i love it. the people here are so nice and so willing to help, even though we have no idea what they are saying and they don’t understand us. we do have some phrase books that help a lot.
the people stare at us constantly. right before i came here i was with jessica and she was getting some popcorn. there was a family standing next to us….a mother, father and daughter. the mother was looking and looking at me and she started telling her daughter something about me. they would look and talk and look and talk. it was really funny. finally the mother grabbed one of my braids and here and her daughter started feeling my hair and playing with it. then the mom started lifting up my hat and showing her daughter. it was great…..i really enjoy this place. if only it wasn’t so cold.
tomorrow we head to the village we will do our ministry in. please be in prayer for our safety there. and also for the ministry that God has planned for us.
