CHANGE OF PLANS…we are heading into the jungle of Panama for the month of December…we are NOT heading to Costa Rica. Yes, you heard me right. It should be a wild time. The indigenous tribe that we will be working with is accessible only by canoe. We’ve heard the canoe ride is 2 1/2 hours. We have no idea what life will look like next month, but we are banking on no electricity, running water, access to any towns/shops, etc. It will likely be extremely hot and there should be tropical bugs and animals all around us. Merry Christmas!
In preparation for this change of plans, I have put together a list of Jungle Awesomess that we can all be excited about (with the help of my squad mates):
*****We get to share God’s story*****
1. We will be real, live Indiana Jones adventurers
2. Living 1 month in the jungle = the ability to live 1 month ANYWHERE
3. We will be living in Earth HD movies
4. Loincloths
5. STORIES!
6. Unique life perspective; few have tribal experiences
7. Full dependance on the Lord
8. Full dependance on team
9. Content & joy in ALL situations
10. Piercing ideas
11. Exploring God’s creation in a new way
12. Overcome fear of bugs
13. Street cred
14. I run faster than my slowest teammate
15. It’s like survivor without the application process or elimination vote
16. It will help me become RUGGED
17. Babies are cuter in the jungle
18. Tribal tatooes!
19. Getting out of our comfort zone
20. Jungle cred
Some of these ideas about jungle awesomeness are serious, others not so much. Once I come out alive, you can figure out which is which. It’s exciting, amazing and overwhelming. We are packing up our things today to leave tomorrow morning. I won’t be back online until after Christmas. Still send love and comments my way; I will look forward to them while I’m killing tarantulas in the field. God bless you this holiday season!! I pray you find joy and contentment regardless of your circumstances! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! (In case it takes a bit to get back online).
