I just wanted to share a few snapshots with you. God is on the move my freinds! He is working in the hearts of my squadmates and in the lives of people we meet on a daily basis. The key to seeing God move is to recognize his presence in the everyday activities.

On Sunday, Kristen and I went shopping at the street market. She bought a $7 purse and I bought two suckers. When we paid, the women smiled and thanked us for saving her life…until we handed her our money she wasn’t sure whether or not she would eat that day.
Last month in China I started praying for a family I had never met. Everyday I held their beautiful baby in my arms…feeling guilty that I could hug her while they wait anxiously to bring her home. This week I received an e-mail from that little girls mom in America, thanking me for loving and holding her daughter.
Christin and I were chatting about Young Life with our new friend Malcom. He is passionate about kids meeting Jesus, as well as seeing their physical needs met. After several days of him asking us about Young Life I said “it is such a shame that there is not currently any Young Life in South Africa.” His response: “There is no Young Life here because God is calling me to start it, and I had to wait for him to send you here to tell me about it.”
While I was in China, I received an e-mail from a college student in the midwest (whom I have never met). A few weeks ago this girl realized she had extra money in her monthly budget and had been praying about how she could give it back to God… then she happened upon my blog and decided to support me. It made me question how I use to (and still do) choose to spend my money when I end up with a little extra.
On my 20 hour bus ride from Johannesburg to Cape Town I met a man named George. George is from Guana, but he is living in South Africa as a PhD student. People like to call George a Living Bible, because he knows so much scripture. His advice to me: “You are not here for a vacation. There are too many people here who need you to tell them about Jesus. If you take this opportunity for granted and leave here without doing that you should be grounded.”
Yesterday I was at the surf ministry and the shark siren sounded. Everyone had to evacuate the water. Today I heard a story about a man who stayed in the water after a siren a few weeks ago and was attacked by a Great White. It made me think: How often does God give me warning signs that something is unhealthy or dangerous… and how often do I choose to ignore those signs….
