Day 280: Pastor Armando took us to one of the outlying villages. There was a soccer tournament going on so we put together a team and joined in. The rest of us did face-painting and led worship.

Day 281: We went to church in the morning. We led worship and JM shared his testimony. On the way home, there was a protest in the middle of the freeway. Our bus had to back up in traffic to get off at an earlier off ramp. The boys jumped off the bus to direct traffic.

Day 282: We spent the day at a rehab center for alcoholics. Several of the boys shared their testimonies, we led worship in Spanish, and Pastor Armando shared a message. We also spent time praying for people in a park outside the center.

Day 283: We went to visit a trash dump today that is home to over 400 people. We brought food and spent time playing with the kids.

Day 284: Today we did ministry in a youth prison. Many of the inmates are gang members, but some of them are as young as 12. Most of them have no education, no family, and no hope for the future. We shared testimonies and performed a drama. We were not allowed to take pictures inside the prison.

Day 285: We returned to the IHNFA home for girls today. I taught dance class again, others spent time playing games with the kids inside.

Day 286: Went into town for street outreach. We took over another street corner with our signs and got on the news!

Day 287: Pastor Armando took us to a community near his church. We went around to houses and invited people down to the park where we had a sound system set up. A hip-hop artist came to perform, we shared testimonies and performed two dramas.

Day 288: Today was our day off. We hung out on the property. Most people slept. I worked on job applications most of the day. In the evening we had a church service on the property and we celebrated two birthdays. Chrin got to go fishing and we finished the night with a dance party.

Day 289: We went to another home for at-risk girls. Marian and I led worship, we did a drama, and spent time hanging out with the girls making bracelets. In the evening I shared my testimony with the entire squad.

Day 290: Pastor Armando took us to a private school to teach classes about self-esteem. I worked with Amaris, Shannon and Marian to teach six classes.

Day 291: We return to the same school we were at yesterday. In one of our classes I sang Sara Evans “Born to Fly”… probably the first and last country song many of the students will ever hear.

Day 292: Today we went to IHNFA and I worked in the baby/toddler room with several of my new friends from the passport college team that is working with us this month.

Day 293: We went back to the streets with our signs. This week we got interviewed by a TV station and a radio station.

Day 294: Pastor Armando took us to a church out in the middle of nowhere. We led a service and spent time playing with the kids. The view from the roof of the church was beautiful!

Day 295: We had a church service at Zion’s Gate in the morning. In the afternoon we went down to the river to baptize Nolan and Kate (two of the students from the passport college team that is here). I also got crafty today and made congrats cards for them.

Day 296: Today we went to a school in the city. We thought we were going to put on a self-esteem assembly for the entire school, but found out when we arrived that we would be teaching in individual classrooms. So much for having a plan….

Day 297: Today we taught two 1 1/2 hour sessions on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction. Each group had around 150 students. After we were done teaching, the students put on a human pyramid building show for us.

Day 298: I stayed home from teaching to interview Nolan & Kate. I spent the entire afternoon editing the videos of their baptisms. In the evening we made signs for cardboard testimonies.

Day 299: In the morning, Neal, Sarah, and I went on a hike and had a picnic lunch overlooking the countryside. In the afternoon I worked on several projects on the property and at night we had a photo shoot in front of the new mural a few of my squadmates painted.

Day 300: I can’t believe we left home 300 days ago, and I can’t believe it is already our last full day in Honduras. I woke up at 5am to say goodbye to the boys and the passport team (who were leaving for the other side of the county). In the morning we went to visit a statue of Jesus that overlooks the entire city and we spent the evening packing and cleaning.

BACK IN THE U.S. IN 29 DAYS….
