Day 109: We all woke up at 5am to work in the field. It is way to hot here during the day. Spent most of the day outside, except when I was working on food prep. Most of us went to bed really early.

Day 110: Worked in the field in the morning. In the afternoon I worked on writing for the website and then went to the market with Kat and Sara to pick up small gifts for our white elephant gift exchange.

Day 111: We worked all day (in the field and doing website design). In the evening we had a Mozambican Christmas dinner with the Beacon of Hope staff followed by a white elephant gift exchange with $2 gifts from the market.

Day 112: Twas the night before Christmas and all through Mozambique… Today we had the day off from work so we spent time writing blogs and resting. In the evening we had a Christmas Eve candlelight service in our living room.

Day 113: MERRY CHRISTMAS! I woke up early in the morning to go serve food to 450 kids at a local church. We had lunch at the pastors house and then returned to Beacon of Hope for Christmas dinner. In the evening we opened our stockings and Santa came to visit.

Day 114: Wrote Bible curriculum most of the day and had a long meeting with Angie to discuss the set-up of student sponsorship and internships. We had covey and chocolate cake for dinner.

Day 115: Worked on the website and video all day. Some of my squadmates started work on the Hope House (cleaning, painting, etc.) getting it ready for the boys to move in.

Day 116: It rained a large portion of the day, so most of my team spent the day working in the Hope House and on database projects. Angie was gone into the city, so I spent 12 hours straight at her desk designing the website.

Day 117: We spent the day planting corn in the field.

Day 118: We were out in the sun all day using hoes to dig up the yard where a driveway is being put in. In the evening, I went for a walk through the community with Maggie and Jamie.

Day 119: In the morning, we went to the large market in the city. We had been waiting for after the holidays because the prices are much cheaper. In the evening we went to a local church for an African New Years Eve celebration. One little boy didn't quite make it until midnight. We were worshiping when midnight hit and then we went outside for fireworks… although young boys with bottle rockets made us take cover.

HAPPY 2012 FROM MOZAMBIQUE!
