Just a few of my random thoughts that I have had thus far…in no particular order
1) God is GOOD
2) I miss my family and my friends more than I ever thought I would
3) GOOOO Aggies…can’t believe I am missing football season!
4) Guatemala is HOTTTTT in August…
5) Community Living is NOTHING like the sorority house days
6) When Guatemalans/Mexicans say they will be there at 6….they REALLY mean 7-7:30
7) It has been such a blessing to be able to speak spanish and communicate with people these past two months
8) Sometimes it drives me CRAZY that I can speak spanish and therefore have to translate for myself and my team……many times the words just do NOT come out how they are suppose to
9) I sleep with anywhere from 3-25 people in a room with me at a time
10)Am I really living out of a backpack for a year?!?!?
11)Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches are staple food items
12)I hate missing Callan’s senior year at A&M and Ben’s senior year of high school (my little brothers)
13)Toilet seats are a luxury
14)I wear the same five shirts over and over and over……
15) A 36 hour plane ride is NOTHING compared to a 36 hour BUS ride!
16) I miss being able to pick up the phone and call any of my friends at any time of the day…..
17)I think I have learned more from the people in these communities these past 2 months than I did in 4 years of college
18)We are blessed BEYOND belief in the United States.
19) Being able to take a day trip to Belize to snorkel was AWESOME!
20) I tend to fall in love with all of the little kids in each country and continually contemplate how to fit them in my backpack…
21)Just when you think that you have fit as many Guatemalans as you POSSIBLY can into a van, you will ALWAYS squeeze around 5-6 more
22)I miss my bed….badddddd
23)My purse contains: my wallet, suncreen, toilet paper
24)Eating rice and beans for every meal of the day is normal
25)God is bigger than any of us can ever imagine
26)Hot shower….what’s that?!?!
27)LIfe is still going on in the U.S….with or without me
28)Making boy band poses in the middle of central park in Mexico City is TOTALLY normal….
29)The prayers and support I have been given have been EXTREMELY humbling….I am SO blessed!
30)I hope all the hurricanes stay away from the Texas coast!
31)Riding the banana boat in Koh Samet, Thailand was PROBABLY the best $6 I have spent so far on this trip….jk
32)My team has now become my new family
33)God is beginning to break me for the things that break his heart….
34)I hate missing my best friend’s weddings and the birth of their first children
35)My parents and brothers are my idols….would not be here without them
36)Traveling for 7 days in a row by car, bus, train, and plane is VERY exhausting
37)Being “sick as a dog” in the middle of Mexico in 105 degree weather just flat out SUCKS!
38)I am learning more about myself every day…the good, the bad and the ugly
39)LOVE always wins
40)He is the creator of Heaven and Earth….HE is my everything….
