SOOOO…we have our first assigment here in Mexico! Three of the teams will travel to three different villages and three teams will stay in Paleque to minister for two weeks. My team and I will travel to a small village about an hour outside of Palenque where we will be working with a pastor named Marcos at his church. This village is in the area where the Zapatistas tried to run the Christians out in the early 90´s(dont worry mom, its safe now!). Here is the catch….the people of the village do not speak spanish…they actually speak one of the five dialects that exist around the Palenque area.  Pastor Marcos does speak a little bit of spanish though. So the translation will go like this: english to spanish to the different dialect. I am extremely nervous because we are now having to overcome not one, but TWO different language barriers. We will be leading worship, giving testimonials, and working with the children of the village. I am sure there will be more to do, but we only have a brief description thus far. I expect to be stretched spiritually more than I ever have before, but I am sure this is ONLY the beginning.
Please pray for safe travel for all of the teams and also for our ability to communicate with the people of the village. A longer update to come next week when when we have a day off and internet access again!
