Well, folks, it’s hard to believe it’s been a month since my accident in Romania. So very much has happened and, now that I’m with family in the US, I’m looking forward to processing it all. I’m so grateful for all the healing and faithfulness God has shown me during this trial. I am a walking miracle and will be for the rest of my life. X-rays taken this morning revealed, though, that my broken ribs on my left side are not healing. The force of the impact when I hit the ground completely broke them and separated them. They are not lined up, so they can’t start knitting back together yet. Surgery seems like the only option. However, God’s restoration is a better option.
I’ve already had two painful surgeries and don’t want another. The financial cost, physical pain and delays in healing are significant down-sides. I am scheduling an appointment with trauma surgeons for next week to determine my options. Please pray with me that between now and then God will reset these bones and they will start reconnecting. Actually, start thanking Him for the restoration I have yet to receive, but that He’s already sending to me. God is my only healer anyway. Depending on the circumstances, even the best medical interventions are guess-work. We humans really are at the mercy of the Almighty, whether we acknowledge that truth or not. And being submerged in His mercy is a place fraught with grace and possibility.
I am currently recovering in my home state of Kentucky. I appreciate your prayers for me and my family as we continue on through my recovery. Please keep in contact as you have time. I’d love to hear from each of you.
