Today, I was released from the hospital in Oradea. The surgery on Monday was successful…currently I have no infection….and the doctor has also cleared me to fly back to the US. (Flight plans are being made as I type this.) The weather today for my drive back to Sebis is 70 degrees and sunny. It’s a welcome change to the four gray walls I’ve been staring at for nearly a month in the hospital. God has been at work, though, even as I’ve been confined to my 12×12 room. I have gotten to pray with several women that have been roommates. The staff has also taken notice of our prayer times and the speed of my recovery. God is on the move in that hospital and I am grateful for the care I’ve received.
Re-opening my wound and scar tissue produced the most intense pain I’ve ever felt and made a miserable day and night after the surgery. I came out of the OR with two tubes in my back attached to jars filling with my my blood and fluids. Broken ribs on both sides of my chest meant there was no possible position to sit or sleep in that didn’t include excruciating pain. I was awake for 24 hours after surgery, but got some relief and sleep when the first tube was removed the following day.
Currently, I have some unexplained swelling on my left side; pretty much from head to toe. As soon as I touch down in the US, I will be checking in for further medical evaluation. Please keep your prayers coming as I travel. I’m pretty gimpy with two bum legs, ribs and at least three airports to navigate on the way home. So, I’m thinking getting around will be “interesting.” I would never have chosen to go through this, but know that God is trustworthy in His thoughts and ways that are higher than mine. Hopefully my next post will be from the US. Thanks for being on the journey with me.
