In the U.S. we watch movies and T.V. shows all the time with the point of interest being some form of magic, witchcraft, or sorcery; we don’t think twice about it, it’s entertainment and as Americans it seen to us as fantasy. Harry Potter is just one of many examples of this, these things are romanticized to look cool to make us think it’s “ok” to watch.
Magic, Witchcraft, and Sorcery are not ok, it’s not ok that we find them entertaining, it’s not ok that we have been taught that they are. The Word is so very clear that these things are rooted in darkness, that they will deceive, that we should stay away from them because they are evil. In America we don’t see sorcery as real, we don’t believe in witches, and we think magic is just fancy tricks…..all harmless right!? Those are lies we’ve been fed, to deceive us from the truth.
In Africa this is not so. In Africa people die because of witchcraft and sorcery. In Africa people know these things are real, people know they are evil. Joseph Kony was known to summon demons to himself and to his child soldiers through witchcraft and sorcery, thousands of people were killed, mutilated, and raped in Uganda because of this evil. In Tanzania ( where I am going) albinos are killed and mutilated because it is believed that their limbs have healing powers, witchdoctors use them in potions.
I am not writing this to condemn anyone or to pass judgement, I am as guilty as anyone. I am just shedding some truth and light on something that here in the U.S. has been in darkness. My prayer for anyone who reads this is that you receive a revelation of truth on this matter, Lord peel the scales from our eyes so that we may see what you see, let us be aware of the deception, show us your heart on this matter.
