I am sorry I didn´t get any pictures of this (okay really I´´m glad cause I didn´t look too cute), but on Friday I chipped my top front tooth for the second time in my life.  I chipped two teeth at two different times in my childhood because of softball and I don´t remember which time was the top tooth, but regardless, it was at least 15 years ago that it broke.  The dentist put on a fake piece to fix it and told me that it would probably wear away or break off at some point and I´d have to have it fixed again.  Well I never had any problems with it for all those years until now when I´m in a different country.  I was out at the farm and was given some sugarcane to chew on.  If you´ve ever had sugarcane like that, you know that it is hard to bite off and chew and then you spit it out when the flavor is gone.   I was doing alright and then all of the sudden I spit out something that looked like part of a tooth. I hadn´t felt it break off but I knew instantly what it was.  Sure enough, I felt it with my tongue and started laughing.  My group thought it was pretty funny too, and wanted to call me “Snaggletooth´´.
Here´s the good news, though.  We have met and befriended a local baker who speaks English and told us to call on him anytime we needed anything.  I contacted him the very next day and he set me up with a great dentist that very afternoon and $35 (or 1200 pesos) later my tooth was as good as new!  It was great work and while it may not seem like that big of a deal, I am relieved that God has put the right people in my path to help me smile with confidence again!
