Every morning in Malawi we began with praise and worship as a team with the couple we were living with.  Jose, the husband, always had a word to share with us and to encourage us in our relarionship with the Lord.  He also often called us to pray for each other and for our needs.  It was great to have some good teaching and pastoring available to us so readily.

After worship we would all disperse to our separate jobs.  The mornings were spent helping Jose fix up his house and also his house helpers home on the property.   His helper, Simon, takes care of cleaning and all sorts of odd jobs around the house.  He lives in the guest house with his wife, 4 children (with one on the way) and one sister.  Some of the team helped paint their house and decorate the kids room with painted hand and foot prints.  I helped sew a wall hanging for the other bedroom.  The family seemed very grateful for everything we did for them.

We also helped in Jose’s house by fixing toilets, doors, locks and Natalie and I hand-sewed some curtains!  It was a daunting task at first, without a machine, but we got quite a bit done.  They were then able to take the curtains to a tailor to have them hem the bottoms with their old-fashioned machines, so we didn’t have to spend more time doing that.  The curtains really helped make the house look more homey, though and I know the Naara, the wife, was very happy about getting them made.

It was great to be able to help this wonderful couple out and bless them in return for giving us a place to stay and helping us made ministry happen in Malawi.
