This month of ministry at the farm has come to an end. Yesterday, we went around to several of the people to say our goodbyes and pray for them one last time. One of the older ladies has grown rather fond of me for some reason. Perhaps it´s because I told her I enjoyed shelling peas with her and sat for hours on a couple of occasions doing just that. When we said goodbye, she teared up and held on to me like she didn´t want to let go. I hadn´t known I´d made that big of an impact.
In fact, I´ll be honest…I haven´t really felt all that productive this month. Sure, I´ve helped harvest some beans, shell some peas, play with kids, and paint a school house. But I´ve wondered many times, ¨What difference is this making for the kingdom?¨ We talked with people about Christ, shared some of our stories, but no one seemed interested in learning more.
This particular woman, though is already a Christian. She is pretty young in her faith and seems to need encouragement. So yesterday, I felt like perhaps we accomplished that. With God´s guidance and help, I pray that we did make a difference in that small farming community.
