The month of August, team Tikvah did things a little different.  Instead of spending 3 weeks in one place, we roamed about.  We started by spending an extra week in Malawi to save up some money (we had free lodging, cheap food, and great company!)  We then headed out to Lusaka, Zambia.  We spent 6 days in Lusaka staying at back-packing lodges and cooking our own food.  Holli had been there before and so she set up visits through a church to local AIDS clinics and hospices so we could learn more and see more of the AIDS epidemic in Africa.
I was impressed with the people, especially at “Our Lady’s Hospice”.  I felt like the patients were really considered important and not 2nd class.  They had great facilities and people who generally cared for them.  It was good to be able to visit with some of the patients and pray and read the Bible with them.
I would ask that you all join me in praying for Lusaka and all of Zambia.  Pray that the lies and myths about love, sex, and AIDS will stop.  Pray that people will learn the truth, not just about AIDS but about love.  And that people will turn to God instead of others to fulfill their need for love.
