I love children. I love their innocence, their laughter, their fun, their energy, their love and their trust. I love how they need to be cared for and held and loved on and how they relish in those things when they receive them. It saddens me that there are children around the world who don’t get enough, if any, of that.

The children in Haiti touched me deep in my soul. It saddened me to see that a lot of their innocence is gone, and their trust and laughter and energy. One little boy, Kenealy, was about 2 or 3 years old. His state saddened me the most. When I think of a boy that age, I think of my nephews who run around like crazy, getting into all sorts of trouble and making it difficult for anyone to keep up with them. They tire me out when I play with them. Kenealy, on the other hand, seemed lifeless compared to them. He had no energy to run around. All he wanted to do all day was be held by one of us. During our whole time there he was only spotted smiley a couple of times. He normally looked off to the side or down to the ground with a sad, despondent look on his face.

It broke my heart to see a child like that. Kenealy is not the only one either. There are others like that, not only in Haiti, but everywhere. Kids who don’t have the love of good parents, the proper nutrition to give them energy, or the protection they need from the evils of society. Please join me in prayer for these children. Pray also for the orphanage n Haiti, called “House of Hope”. There are some great men and women who dedicated their lives to helping these children who have lost parents due to death or abandonment. These men and women are doing the best they know how and providing the children with the Word of God. But there are so many children and so few workers. As Jesus said in Matthew 9:37, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
