“You were a child, crawling on your knees toward it”- MGMT
Kids by MGMT is one of my favorite songs. I really can’t wait to begin to start working with children. I truly believe one of the best things you can do as a Christian is to have the heart of a child. How can you view God as your father, if you are not His child?
I plan to explore this idea more throughout the race, but what I have on my heart right now is why God chooses to be called our Father? I think the Spirit of adoption is what helps us develop that relationship with God. God is not a tyrant leader, but like a Father that loves us and wants to see the best for us.
We have been adopted into Gods family, and we are taught that we should cry out to him ” ABBA! FATHER!.” I read recently that “Abba” is the most initimate form for referring to a father. It is like saying “Daddy”- it represents a deep level of intimacy.
I also want to take today to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MY DAD!! Dad, you have been one of the most significant influences in my life. I am so blessed to have a male figure in my life like you. You represent selfless love in every definition of the word. You put my mom and sister and I before yourself, time and time again. You have pleasure in serving and you rarely complain. I chose the university I went to, to follow in your footsteps. I often tell my friends that I want to marry a man that loves me as much as you love mom. While doing my work here, I sometimes feel like complaining. Im either tired, or just really DON’T like the work assigned. But then I think of your spirit and how you cook dinner, pick my sister and I up, walk the dog, paint, garden…etc….and you do it with Joy. So this week, as your birthday gift I will practice having your heart Dad!
LOVE YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
