Today I am thankful for my bed at home. I remember the sense of accomplishment I felt when I found my apartment in New York City. I was able to pay rent on my own, and decorate the room as I wished. As a gift, my parents bought me a full size bed with a brass princess frame. I felt so much freedom in having an apartment. I could come and go as I wished. I chose a Lilly Pulitzer comforter and felt so girly while laying in my bed.

This
Is
My
Bed
Now
1. Before we go to bed every night we go “rat hunting”…this means we put donuts on the ground and make traps for the rats and Tyler tries to kill the rats with a broom stick – Videos to come
2. That black space you see on the wall, is an opening. Some may call it a glassless window. This is where our friends the bats come in.
3. Fans- There are 5 fans in the room that keep us cool…however, when it is over 100 degrees outside- you quickly redefine “cool”.
4. Itching- Every night we get bitten by bugs. I wear socks to bed and cover myself with a blanket (while sweating) to prevent to bugs from biting us. One bonus is this gives me more opportunities to pray. Every night when I wake up incessantly itching, I spend about 20 minutes praying till I fall back asleep.
The funny thing is, with all of these hard conditions…I am still grateful. I am grateful that I have a place to rest my head. I am grateful that my team is together in one room (I am an extrovert).
What are you grateful for in your own life? Do you realize that every possession you own is a blessing? I used to take the little things for granted…such as a cozy bed. What simple things in life are you taking for granted?
