Dear friends and family,
Just a few weeks ago I completed my degree program in International Studies-Human Rights at the University of Iowa. Throughout my college career, I’ve continually felt God calling me into international ministry and have developed a deep love and passion for different cultures and serving all of God’s people. This call was first affirmed after serving with Young Life and other ministries in Thailand. While I was abroad, I felt a yearning to keep serving God’s children and spreading His love and peace to other nations.

I knew that after college I didn’t want to settle into a typical job right away. I felt I needed to learn and discover more about myself, the world, and the life that God is calling me to. I also felt now was the best time in my life to pursue unique opportunities. God has faithfully answered my prayers and I’m so excited to share with you the call He has placed on my heart. In January 2017, I’ll be embarking on the adventure of a lifetime: I’m going on The World Race!
The World Race is an eleven month Christian mission trip to eleven countries around the world through the organization Adventures in Missions. I’ll be on the Fusion Route, which means my core team will be assembled of approximately forty individuals from around the world at the beginning, and then as we go we also have the opportunity to invite local believers to join our team. The World Race calls Christians out of their comfort zones, requiring Luke 10 like faith, and invites them to live radically for the sake of the Gospel. The work my team and I will be doing on the World Race includes: serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, and minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking.

As I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is financial resources. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded on January 1, 2017, I need your help to raise $16,617. This money is not a paycheck, but rather a coverage of the costs needed to travel, do our work, and serve those in need. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider partnering with me at $50 monthly or some other amount?

Yours in Christ,
Jessi
“Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. Don’t take any money with you, nor a traveler’s bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. And don’t stop to greet anyone on the road.”
