Here in Hmarkhawlien, we live in some abandoned classrooms of an old school, but on the 20th of January 2020, the school began. We had already been living here for about 4 weeks now and most of us were not aware the school was even in use. Once we got back from ministry, Claire, Noelle, James, and I decided to pray over the whole building.

We met together and discussed what we wanted to be praying for, then dispersed throughout the campus for like 45 minutes. I shoved my headphones in my ears, put on some worship music, and went on my way. My strategy was to worship and praise while I was walking in and out of classrooms so if there was any type of spiritual darkness in that room it had to leave. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:16 says that we are God’s temple and that the spirit of God lives inside of us and 1 JOHN 1:5 says that God is light and in him, there is no darkness at all, so I was confident that wherever I set my foot the Lord would give me. First, I went to the roof where there were some other racers just chilling and sitting around. I had no problem raising my hands up to the sky and singing to the Lord in front of them because they are my friends. I prayed that the building would be a fortress and a vessel for the glory of Lord and that when somebody enters it, they would be filled up with the great love of God.

After the roof, I made my way down the two flights of stairs into the lower classrooms. There were 4 so I took turns in each one. I walked down the halls and the rows of desks with such confidence because I had the power of Jesus Christ on my side and nothing is stronger than that. I was singing and dancing and I raised my hands up to the sky to praise the Lord but when I opened my eyes I noticed some local children staring in the window from across the field laughing at me. I was immediately embarrassed and lowered my hands and voice.

But then I remembered a passage in 2 SAMUEL 6, about king David. This passage spoke about when the Ark of the Covenant was brought back to Jerusalem. When it arrived, King David was so excited that he began to “dance with all of his might” in his priestly garments in front of the whole town. In fact, he was dancing so hard that his cloths began to fall off. His wife later came at him with disgust because of the way he was dancing basically naked in front of the servant girls. His response was that he was chosen by God to be over all of Israel and that his dancing was for the Lord. “I am willing to look even more foolish than this,” said David.

His joy and praise trumped all feelings of embarrassment and I was extremely inspired by it. I then raised my hands and screamed even louder to the Lord my God because He is worthy of all the praise I can muster. I was alone in that classroom but I felt like I was singing with Angel choruses all praising the living God.
